Food Preparation Tricks
Easy Egg Separator
If your recipe just needs part of an egg, you can use the old standby egg separator tool, or you can wash out a water bottle and re-fashion it as an egg separator. This is especially handy when you realize you only need yolks, or whites, after cracking multiple eggs into the bowl.
If you do this, be sure to save the whites (think meringue?) or yolks (custard?) in a tightly covered container in the fridge. To be safe, use them within the next day or two.
Peel a Banana like a Monkey
You, like millions of other humans, may have been struggling with the wrong end of the banana. Instead of twisting and turning a stubborn stem, just flip the banana over and pinch like a monkey. Not only is opening easier, but you eliminate having to deal with the messy strands inside!Peel Multiple Cloves of Garlic at Once
This one is used by restaurants, but try this if you’re making a very garlicky dish or want to plan ahead and keep some peeled garlic in a tightly sealed container in the fridge.
Peel a Boiled Egg
Here’s a video that’s kind of fun to watch… but I think I would rather peel my boiled eggs before putting them near my mouth! Here’s an easy to way to release those wonderful pomegranate seeds hiding under a pomegranate skin.
What You Can Do
