How Long Do Snack Foods Last?
There are thousands of snack foods available, all packaged nicely and ready to eat... but the definition of what people consider snack food will vary from person to person. Here are some more common snack foods along with the shelf life and storage information for each different food.
Snack foods that contain oil can become rancid, especially if stored at high temperatures or left out or uncovered for too long. Sniff to check for rancidity, and, if they smell bad, throw them out. Staleness, on the other hand, can often be handled by re-purposing the item. See our blog posts for different ideas on how to use stale snack items.
Date guidelines for how long your snack foods should remain good beyond their "best by" or best before dates are explained on the various snack pages listed below. Also read about ways to extend the shelf life of your items and how to recognize if it's time to toss your snack items.
