Please note that a grenadine substitute may alter the final outcome of your recipe in either taste, texture, moisture or smell. Children may not like some of the tarter grenadine substitute suggestions.

If you would like to make homemade grenadine syrup then simply boil equal amounts of Pomegranate Juice and Sugar gently until the consistency becomes syrupy. You could also use Cherry juice & sugar or a combination of pomegranate and cherry - just use an equal amount of sugar in order to end with a simple syrup consistency. In fact, you could also just use water instead of juice to make a simple syrup and then just tint it red with some food color - this will sweeten your drink and make it look pretty but you won't get that tint of fruit flavor.
